Art studios go through a lot of ware and tare. So when Niki and Shaokao Cheng transformed a 5th Avenue art studio into a family-freindly apartment, they new it would take a lot of work, and well thought out design...and it sure payed off. Take a look at some of these great photos that show just how well the transformation went:
BoConcept, a Danish furniture company, had no outlets in New York, but in 2003 the Chengs persuaded company officials to let them open the city’s first BoConcept franchise around the corner from their apartment. Business boomed, and by 2008 the Chengs were operating seven branches throughout the metropolitan region.
As their professional lives evolved, so did their living situation. With a newborn daughter, Cienna, and plans for another child, the one-bedroom was a tight fit. That term would never apply to their current home, a former sculptor’s studio that they bought in 2006 for $1.7 million. The loft contains 2,200 square feet of space and is outfitted with 12-foot ceilings and 18 oversized windows.
