  • Early Signs of Roof Damage

Your roof is one of the most important parts to your home. It it also one of the hardest parts to check on a regular basis with the obvious reasons of it being so difficult to get a look at. But if you get a chance, and you're hanging some flowers out of the second floor bedrooms, or washing the exterior windows, take a look at your roof and see if you spot any damages. If you're unsure about some of the damages, be sure to call Reilly Painting for a free estimate, and consider them for some roof repair...one of their summer time specialties.

    1. Look for broken, cracked or tiles that have slipped down and exposed the underlayment. Normally a few cracked tiles only need repair of the area. An increasing amount of leaks or broken tiles (leading to more leaks) every storm indicate your tile felt underlayment is deteriorating and replacement is necessary.

    2. Tiles that have blown off or are missing. Normally this area only needs repair, but if a significant portion of your roof was blown off, a re-roof will be necessary.

    3. Excessive debris in the valley blocking the water drainage. Homes surrounded by trees invite debris into valleys and near flashings, which almost always lead to leaks. Proper cleaning of valleys and other maintenance will ensure this debris doesn't ruin your roof.

We’re in the roofing industry as well; we offer infrared & ultrasonic testing solutions for commercial buildings nationwide. This includes: electrical systems, building envelopes and commercial roofing system surveys and would like to invite you and your readers to checkout our website: http://irtest.com. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    2. Some nice tips here. We suggest, though, that you let a roofing contractor take a look to find faults in your roof if you suspect there might be issues. Don’t risk your safety.
