Children’s Hospital experts and the American Academy of Pediatrics offer these lawn mower safety tips:
1. Never let a child ride as a passenger on a riding lawn mower while it is in use.
2. Never let a child play on a lawn mower.
3. Make sure children are indoors or a safe distance well away from the area you plan to mow.
4. Teach children that lawn mowers are dangerous. If young children are unafraid to approach a lawn mower, they may run right up to the person mowing. Many children are backed over when the lawn mower operator doesn’t realize the child is nearby.
