The quality of sleep you're getting is just as important as the length of time you're sleeping. I can attest to this in that I've been sleeping at least 9 hours per night for a week but I feel almost better when I was sleeping 7 hours per night. What was different between the two types of sleep?
Well, the mornings were darker when I was getting less sleep, and a blinding sun to wake you up in the morning isn't the best way to greet the new day. My alarm between the two types of sleep was the same, a loud crazy noise to jar me out of slumber. I've been meaning to change it for months but never got around to it. During high school, I had the classic blaring alarm noise to wake me up at 6 AM every morning and to this day, I cringe when I hear that noise even on TV or in a movie.
