My husband and I are extremely pleased with Reilly! You team, Bruce and David, are masters. They came each day when they said they would and worked diligently, and I was pleasantly surprised that they were quiet and didn't listen to radios. Bruce is a jewel; he was so patient with me and explained answers to all of my questions."

Who doesn't like freshly made juice in the morning? It's a great way to stay healthy and enjoy something homemade and very tasty. I know recently my family purchased the Beville Juicer, and have had a blast making everything from homemade grapefruit juice to health drinks filled with carrots and celery. I highly recommend getting a juicer this time a year. Think about it. You start planting your own fruits and a juicer...and can enjoy the freshest juice ever. Sounds like a plan to me.

Now, going along with this juicer, there are going to be times when you have excess fruits and veggies that you can't put in your juicer. Instead of throwing them out, put them in your compost. We had a blog post about composting here. Composting is a great way to create your own organic soil for your garden. I read a great article recently about how putting ash from your fireplace in the compost can add a lot of vitamins and proteins to the soil, not usually found in egg shells or banana peels. Here's a great article that better explains what I'm talking about:

Wood ash is an excellent source of lime and potassium for your garden. Not only that, using ashes in the garden also provides many of the trace elements that plants need to thrive.

But, wood ash fertilizer is best used either lightly scattered or by first being composted along with the rest of your compost. This is because wood ash will produce lye and salts if it gets wet. In small quantities, the lye and salt will not cause problems, but in larger amounts, the lye and salt may burn your plants. Composting fireplace ashes allows the lye and salt to be leached away.

So to sum it all up: Buying a juicer is a great way to make your own homemade juices whenever you want. If their are fruits or vegetables that you can't put in your juicer, throw them in your compost. If you have ash from your fireplace, throw that into your compost too...this will result in the healthiest, most organic soil for you to use in your garden!

    Happy gardening!
