No, I am not talking about the street game. I am talking about the social media app that has taken over people's phones. Foursquare is a social media app that let's you "check in" to various places around the world. Find deals where you are, post them on your facebook and Twitter, and connect with people in different ways. Carmine Gallo of Forbes discusses further:
Foursquare, the mobile social-media app, has surpassed 1 billion “checkins.” That means that every second of every day in every city in every country people are using the location-based service to “check-in” to places like restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, hotels, schools, sporting events and businesses of any type. Once they do, they share their checkins with friends on foursquare, Twitter and Facebook. The gaming aspect of foursquare gives users the opportunity to earn “badges” and “mayorships.”
For users, foursquare unlocks their city and makes the world a more interesting place. But for businesses, foursquare offers a powerful new marketing tool that helps attract, reward, and engage customers in ways that were never possible. In conducting research for my new book, The Power of Foursquare: 7 Innovative Ways to Get Your Customers to Checkin Wherever They Are, I spent eight months talking to business owners and marketing managers around the world who are using mobile marketing tools, foursquare especially, to reinvent themselves in the digital era. And they are doing this all for free. Their stories inspire me.
