If you like to entertain and you have the space, now is the time to host an outdoor party. It's Friday, the weather is just right, and everyone is in the mood to be outside now. If you're anything like me, you may find being the host a daunting task. But if you take some of the following advice, and plan ahead, things will run smoothly and everyone will have a good time.
Choose simple foods. No one expects a fancy meal, as long as they have something good to eat. Foods that keep, even in the heat, are best for appetizers and snacking. Of course, the main courses can be brought out later.
Lighting is important, especially as the sun goes down. You don't want your guests to be in the dark, but you also don't want to light up the neighborhood. A fire for the guests to sit around can be fun unless it's a hot summer night. White string lights are a great option.
If you're worried your guests might be bored, select some fun backyard games. They are a great way for people to mingle.
Last, but not least, start planning your playlist far ahead of time. You want the music to represent the tone of the party. That tone is really up to you, so I won't make any biased suggestions here.
