My #1 task on my Weekend To-Do List is to organize my room....it's long overdue.
My closet however, is going to need some serious work. Piles upon piles of t-shirts, jeans, workout clothes and coats are piled high in my walk-in closet. It looks like one of the speed bumps inside a residential community. I took 10 minutes and researched some tips on how to organize a closet designated specifically for clothes. Here's what I got:
Take all the clothes out of your closet and fold them on the floor. This might take a while!
Clean the inside of the closet. Seriously, when was the last time you did it? Vacuum or sweep the floor, wipe the walls down with all-purpose cleaner, and sweep away any cobwebs. If you want to make any changes, such as painting the inside a different color or adding and removing some shelves, do it now.
Prepare to purge. Although a good organizational system can maximize your closet space, more often than not the problem is simply too many items in too small a space.
Determine which clothes to donate, give away, or put away in storage. Get rid of clothes that don't fit. Even though you might have a close connection to a certain sweater you wore in high school, you're never really going to wear it again, are you?
