  • A David & Goliath Story: New App To Become More Popular Then Texting?

    [caption id="attachment_6753" align="alignleft" width="195" caption="David & Goliath"][/caption]

I recently saw a standup show on YouTube. The comedian, Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation) did a bit on texting, arguing how frustrating it is that the only form of communication he exchanges with his friends is through text messaging. The chasm between #10 and #5 can be vast.Right now, WhatsApp is at #3. This tiny company has effectively crushed the plethora of messaging competition it faced. It is now the de facto global messaging app from Australia to Angola to Argentina to America. As the undisputed leader, it can fully leverage the network effect. The collapse of the Blackberry empire and its own messaging system is no doubt helping.
