"Thank you for a tremendous job. Through all three parts of the work I've had done this year, Reilly has come across as total classy organization. I appreciated the professionalism and courtesy of your entire crew, and of course your good humor added to the enjoyment of what could have been a real inconvenience. My neighbors are the kind of people who ask, and I'll tell them all--with a plethora of rapturous and ecstatic enthusiasm--that I couldn't have been more pleased."

  • Achieving a Work-Life Balance

94% of working professionals reported working more than 50 hours per week in 2014, according to Forbes. The constant rise in technology, specifically phones that never stray more than a few feet from us, undoubtedly is a major contributor to this. While incentives and fear of job loss certainly play a role, the never-ending workday exists because of how connected we are even at home. Relationships, heath and happiness can suffer as a result.

    work life balance

For all of the reasons above, we think it is critical to achieve a work-life balance. While that may mean something completely different from one person to the next, there are a few general rules that can help just about everybody.

It is great to have ambitions to be the best at what we do, make a lot of money and move up within the company, but be wary of developing perfectionist tendencies. It is very natural to do so, but it becomes much more difficult when responsibilities grow. In this case, perfection is achieved by tacking on hours to the workday. Striving for excellence rather than triple-checking every minute detail will allow for more family time and decrease heath risks.

Breaking time-wasting habits can go a long way in being more efficient and decreasing the time we spend at a desk. Spending an hour scrolling through Facebook is obviously not productive, yet we all tend to do it from time to time. Breaks can be beneficial, but it is important to be aware of how we are spending that time. No worries, we don’t recommend stopping all conversation with your coworkers.

Maybe the most effective way to put more “life” into our work-life balance is to unplug our devices. Being “on” all the time creates expectations and carries the workday far into the night. Accessibility is one of the great advantages of an employer, but it has the potential to control the life of an employee. It’s best to set a standard (i.e. not sending emails after 6 p.m.) and stick to it. Sometimes it is important to separate your two lives.

Actively trying to make a lifestyle change will take time and these small adjustments shouldn’t hurt your production at work. For more tips on how to achieve a better work-life balance visit: Forbes
